Why is origin bad

March - last edited March I do not get it How come such a big company, with so many employees has such a bad launcher?

Why should any other game studio use your platform instead of Steam? Why don't you guys just do one piece of software like a normal company so your clients can play and enjoy games? March I do think they need to do better.

People, buying games, investing into their platform to play games, should not deal with issues that go unresolved for years. And in my opinion Origin IS a competitor to Steam. If I have a studio and I want to put my game out there, I have the option to either choose Steam or Origin. Of course steam has its issues. Every software platform has flaws, but I had never had such ridiculous issues as I have here May This is a pretty old thread that hasn't been updated in over a year.

It took a while, but Steam is a great way to communicate with friends, meet new gamers and generally get your entrails handed to you at 5am on a German server. Indeed, inconvenience is the main reason many dislike Origin. Another piece of software to run, another account to register, another service that requires personal information - all without the catalog, user base and mature system that Valve have got going on.

Origin itself is still beta software, so to pass judgement at such an early stage would be unfair. Clearly there are still kinks that need ironing out, but the platform has been out in the wild since June and had over 4 million downloads. This is a stark contrast to Steam which is littered with cracking downloadable freebies like Team Fortress 2.

Valve also have a reputation for encouraging, hosting and promoting third party mods , and there are plenty of these available on Steam most now work even without Half-Life 2 if you download Team Fortress 2.
